This year 2021, there are many times I have prayed this prayer from Ephesians 3 v 14-20. I have prayed it for myself and almost each time I pray for the church, I pray this prayer. Since beginning to pray this prayer for myself, I have seen a change in my experience of the love of Christ. Do yourself a favor, pray for this prayer for yourself.
I also noticed a great difference in the level of love in the church. I started praying this prayer for the church after hearing many many stories that showed a lack of maturity in the life of love that a Christian is called to. I decided I would pray this prayer for the church each time I bowed my knees to pray for the church. I spend at least several hours every week praying for the church only, dedicated in one special day. Without fail, I pray this prayer.
Actually, there was a time one person I love very much told me they were leaving the church. They had been hurt. I realised, there was nothing I could do to convince them to stay, it is ok to go somewhere else. However I was sad because I wish they stayed. I decided to pray this prayer for them, that they would not move from their position of love (rooted and grounded in love), and I also prayed that they would be healed of their hurt through the love of God (to comprehend the love of Christ). It didn’t take long, they said it’s ok, they are now ok and they would not be leaving.
Anyone who is hurt, I pray this prayer for them. The experience of the love of Christ changes lives and heals.
Do yourself a favor and make a habit of praying this prayer for yourself:
14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father [a]of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
– Pray that you should experience the love of Christ
– The love of Christ can not be understood by reading about it in the Bible
– It can only be experienced through revelation, so that like Paul you can say – ‘…Who (Jesus) loved ME and gave Himself for ME’ (Gal 2:20). Not who loved US, no but ME.
